Gettin' Ready to Move!!

Today when I put Fin on all fours she actually stayed there!! She usually goes right down on her tummy. She even rocked her butt back and forth so you know what that means...time to baby proof!! She's not there yet but crawling is just around the corner.

We've also started feeding her "real" food. She's tried yogurt and sweet potato puffs (yum!) this week. She makes some pretty funny faces with the new textures but then she squeals with delight after realizes how tasty the treats are.

Sleeping has been going better too. She now only gets up 1 to 2 times a night to nurse and is only up for 5-10 min. She is also going to bed wide awake and falling asleep on her own without crying!! Now that is progress.

On another note I will be starting a new job in a couple of weeks. I will be working at a high risk pregnancy clinic. It will be a great learning experience and I look forward to the more stable hours (no weekends, nights or holidays.) I will miss my L&D job but fortunately my new job is just down the hall so I will be able to visit often.

  • That's about all that is happening in the life of Schmidt!

Some Mushy Stuff

Today I turn 28 and I am having a harder time with it than any normal person should but I think I know why and it has nothing to do with the number.

For the first 27 1/2 years of my life (before Fin was born) there was always something I couldn't wait for. I couldn't wait to graduate, to work, to get engaged, to get married, to own a home, to have children and for the first time in my life it's going too fast and I can wait. I've always lived for what is to come and I now realize how much I've "missed." I am finally able to do what my Mom always said to do. Enjoy now. Live for today. I have a wonderful family who, for the most part, are healthy. I have a great career, home etc. I am loved and have so many that I love in return.

I read numerous blogs. In fact I'm not sure what I did before blogs existed :) Anyway, I was reading a blog that I found through another blog and she had this song posted and the lyrics just spoke to me. I put the link to the song at the bottom of the post.

I hope you have a wonderful day and know that I am thankful and blessed to have all of you in my life!

Best Birthday Present!

I've got a healthy, happy, beautiful daughter. What more could a girl ask for on her Birthday!!

Both my girls.

It's FINALLY warm out enough to go for walks. Fin loves the fresh air and so do I. Unfortunately the adorable shades don't last long before she pulls them off but we are working on it.

Finally!!!

Well, after hours of work (no I'm not exaggerating!) the new blog is up and running. I just want you all to know that the header was made by ME at www.scrapblog.com. It was fun to make and, although it's simple, it's the most creative thing I've ever made and I'm pretty proud of myself. You may also notice the nice new background which is compliments of www.cutestblogontheblock.com.

I hope you like it as much as I liked creating it!

A Weekend with the Fam

This weekend Travis, Sarah, Mom, Dad and Aaron came to St Paul for a visit. We had a great time shopping, eating and just spending some time together. It was a fun weekend but went by way too fast! Finley sure enjoyed her time with everyone and so did Cody and I!

Finley and Aunt Sarah.
On Saturday night we went to Fogo de Chao (Finley stayed with Aunt Lila and her cousin Taylor). For those of you who have never heard of Fogo, it's an all you can eat Brazilian steak house with 15 different meats and an unbelievable salad bar. You have a card with a red side and a green side. When you want meat you put the card to green and these men swarm you with different kinds of meats on skewers and slice off meat onto your plate until you turn your card to red. It was so good and by the end of the night we all swore of meat for good! This was a pic of us pre-Fogo.

This is Cody after eating about 20 lbs of meat!

And the rest of us after dinner.

Uncle Travis spending some quality time with Finley before flying home this morning.

Eating Sunday breakfast with grandma and Grandpa.
On Friday night we a bunch of family over for pizza and to spend some time with our visitors. As you can see we were all glued to the Wild game!

Finley enjoyed waking everyone one up nice and early!

If you look close you can see that Finley is wearing her latest gift from Grandpa Rod. That's right it's Harley Davidson PJ's!!!

We finally bought Fin a highchair and I'm kind of thinking we should have done it sooner! She loves sitting and playing with the toy that attaches to the tray and it makes feeding her so much easier. Oh well, better late than never! She also tried her first teething cookie and loved it!

Enjoying her bath time.

Girls Weekend!

This weekend Finley and I went to Detroit Lakes for Girl's Weekend. This year was the first year we went and it was pretty fun. We drove up with Aunt Beth and met Grandma Deb, Aunt Lisa and Aunt Kim. On Saturday we made use of the spa in the hotel, did some shopping and went to a wonderful restaurant. It was a fun weekend and it was great to see everyone! Her are a few pictures from the weekend.
My Beautiful blue Eyed Girl

Grandma Deb decided it was time for Finley to try ice cream. I think she liked it.

Grandma also bought her this beautiful green gingham dress.

We took Finley in the hotel pool for then first time. There are no pics of her in the water because it was a quick swim. Some advice - never take a baby swimming after their bedtime.

Aunt Lisa bought Finley this net toy that you put food in and they can taste it but they can't get any chunks. Finley is enjoying some grapes in this photo.
